Information for Parents

For Students

Students are expected to complete the assigned learning each week and engage in group activities when available.  We are very flexible with our schedule and will not be assigning exact times that students have to get their work done.  We do expect that assignments be completed by Friday each week.

Students should be reading outside of the assigned five-hour requirements.  We will provide supplemental activities for students who are eager to do more than five hours a week.

For Parents

We are all in this together!

This is a whole new experience for all of us, and we ask that you be patient with us as we will be with you  as we navigate these uncharted waters.

Please email, call, or message your child’s teacher directly if you have questions, comments or concerns.  The sooner we are aware of concerns the sooner we can work with you to solve them.

Also remember to breathe, you are doing a wonderful job.

Alberta Education Expectations

The Education Minister has stated that the learning requirements for Grade 4 are five hours per week.  The main focus in Grade 4 is numeracy and literacy with opportunity for science and social to be integrated.

Our school is approaching this in a concept-based manner with science and social being taught through the literacy and numeracy pieces.

Digital Citizenship & Internet Safety

Students must adhere to the division’s policies regarding digital citizenship.  When using digital tools, students need to remember that they are “at school” and school rules apply.  Students must be respectful of other students and staff and we will have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to cyber bullying.

Students and families should be taking the necessary precautions to protect their child's safety when on the internet.
