Helpful tip:  Students in grade 4 are required to complete 5 hours a week of school work.  If you are finding that the assignments are taking longer than about an hour a day, I have place an asterisk (*) beside the assignments that are most important - complete those first.  Remember, I am still here as your teacher and want to work with you!  If you are struggling with something, please ask me before spending too much time struggling over it.

Before starting assignments, make sure you have checked back to last week's work and read your feedback!

MONDAY

  • Grammar Minute 33: Watch the video and use your booklet to complete Monday.  An answer key will be emailed to parents so you can mark your work at home.

  • *Journal entry: Continue to use the weekly prompts.  Use the May 11 Journal Response page.  This should take 10-15 minutes.

  • *Superhero Unit: This writing unit has lots of activities.  Make sure to read the instruction page which outlines which activities are most important and which ones are extras.  Monday is Writing About Superheroes.  This may take more than the half hour or so that we plan for literacy time so spread it out as necessary.

  • *Math: Complete two problems and optional game.

  • *Science: We are going to do a mini Plant Growth and Change unit for science.  We will have a guest speaker on Thursday – Mrs. Samayoa’s brother-in-law!  He will discuss how he studies plants and what he plans to do as a job when he graduates university.  There are some activities to do to prepare for that and to help you be ready for next week.  Spread the activities through the week as you see fit.

  • Prodigy: Use Prodigy as your daily math practice.  In grade 4, you should be practicing math daily above and beyond regular school work.  If you spend 10-15 minutes a day on basic math practice using Prodigy, this will cover your “assignment.”  The assignment in Prodigy is the game that shows up when you go in to play.
